Horror Movies

Horror movies have come a long way since their beginning. They are all very unique and can be very interesting and scary or they can be so phony that people are disgusted . There are several things that I have noticed about scary movies that seem to be what makes them a scary movies. One of the biggest conventions of Horror movies is the use of darkness. Darkness is a symbol of uncertainty, evil, barrenness. Most of the time one will see that the There are all some of the things that the characters in horror movies experience or see while the movie is going on. It also acts as a type of blindness so that the main characters do not know what to expect on their quest to remove themselves from the precarious situation. Most times the evil character has black eyes symbolizing their lack of a soul and most times their evil deeds are done at night . The music that is used in scary movies also acts to further the suspense in the movie. There will be scenes in a movie where there is total silence and the main characters can only hear their own movements and nothing else. There are also times where there is music playing such as a sick violin, or a daring devilish cello and then the villan jumps out and the music erupts while the victim is taken away or killed. All in all , I personally hate scary movies because of these conventions and the many others used to make one feel that “fight or flight” emotion. I’ts just not necessary.

I like some scary movies, but only those that have a story line instead of just a gory film where people just die.

I personally love horror movies, except for the ones that are only scary a few times because they make something jump out real quick just to make you jump. Most of the time horror movies don't scare me, but I still find them really entertaining. Even when they're really really bad, I still sort of like them in a "so bad it's good" kind of way. Also, I love horror movies that use heavy amounts of gore or violence, just because that kind of stuff can be really entertaining once in a while.

I have also noticed that almost all horror movies use darkness to create an intimidating or scary mood. This could be because the dark symbolizes the unknown and that you don't know what kind of scary things could be lurking in the darkness.Just like Dallas i like horror movies. It doesn't matter if they have storyline or if it is just blood and guts.
